Safe and repeatable GC analysis of oily residue in LPG

16 Sep, 2026

The analysis of impurities and contaminants in liquefied gases can be challenging due to adsorption and discrimination effects that can compromise accuracy and repeatability. The Da VincLS Liquefied Gas Injector (LGI) provides a safe and reliable solution by introducing LPG samples directly into a gas chromatograph through liquid-phase injection.

This proven sample introduction technique is standardised in ASTM D7756 and EN 16423 for the determination of oily residue in LPG. By eliminating the need to evaporate large volumes of LPG prior to the analysis, the LGI enhances laboratory safety, while improving analytical precision and repeatability through direct liquid injection under controlled pressure conditions.

In addition to oily residue determination, the LGI supports a broad range of GC applications, including elemental sulphur analysis in LPG, composition and impurity analysis in butadiene, and determination of oxygenate traces in liquid hydrocarbon matrices.
