Oil analysis
Koehler Instrument Company, Inc. has announced the release of the K66100 Compact Cloud & Pour Point Bath, a space-saving, solid-block bath designed for precise determination of cloud point and pour point of petroleum products, fuels, lubricants, and crude oils. The K66100 conforms to ASTM D2500 (Cloud Point), ASTM D97 (Pour Point), and ASTM D5853, as well as related IP methods, delivering reliable manual testing performance in laboratories where bench space is limited.
Engineered for demanding low-temperature applications, the K66100 offers an exceptionally wide temperature range from +6°C down to −105°C, with jacket reheating capability up to 24°C. Pre-set temperature steps are programmed for cloud and pour point testing, allowing operators to transition efficiently between test stages while meeting ASTM step transition requirements of five minutes or less per step down to −51°C. This ensures consistency with automatic method requirements while maintaining the simplicity of a manual bath.
The solid-block bath design minimises temperature gradients and eliminates ice buildup on the top cover, improving long-term reliability and reducing routine maintenance. Despite its ultra-low-temperature capability, the K66100 maintains a compact footprint, making it well suited for crowded laboratory environments, mobile labs, and facilities seeking to expand cold-flow testing capacity without significant infrastructure changes.
Supplied with four complete cloud and pour point test tube assemblies, the K66100 is a turnkey solution for laboratories requiring dependable, standards-compliant cold-flow measurements. By combining extreme cooling performance, compact design, and method compliance, the K66100 offers laboratories a practical and efficient approach to manual cloud and pour point testing.
