Real-Time Analyzers, Inc. (USA) has developed a Portable Fuel Analyzer (PFA) designed specifically for operation in demanding environments, such as refinery, pipeline, port, tarmac, and military operations. It is light weight and contains a 2-hr rechargeable battery. The PFA can determine fuel type (gasoline, disel, jet fuel) and its properties in less than 30 seconds.
Such analysis traditionally requires a fully equipped laboratory, highly trained technicians, and at least 5 hours. Operation of the PFA is simple and requires no technical training. Simply filled a 20mL sample vial with fuel, insert the glass vial in the sample holder and press “Start Analysis”. In less than 30 seconds the fuel is identified and the property data is displayed. The Portable Fuel Analyzer uses the latest in chemical analysis technology (Raman spectroscopy). It can also identify and quantify numerous contaminants and additives, including biodiesel, water, ethanol, etc.
Real-Time Analyzers also offers laboratory and process monitoring versions of the Portable Fuel Analyzer with the same analytical capabilities. The process monitoring system is ideal for continuous monitoring and control of refinery processes, such as distillation and blending operations.
