Density and Kinematic Viscosity Measurement with a Single Direct Insertion Probe
Apr 19 2016
In refineries and petrochemical processes, on-site control is of primary importance in regards to product quality. Viscosity and density are the most commonly measured and monitored physical properties. With increasing pressure to reduce cost and improve efficiency, the industry relies more on automated measurements than it ever has. Viscosity and density are key parameters for safe, efficient and good petrochemical product manufacturing (heavy and light fuels, crude oil, gas, refined products).
Sofraser (France) MIVI sensor and 9701 electronic measure and display in real-time dynamic viscosity, kinematic viscosity, density and temperature with a single instrument. The measurement principle is based on the vibration at resonance frequency technology invented and patented by the company in 1981.
Ex-proof designed, Sofraser sensor is particularly robust and resistant to corrosive fluids. Pressure resistant (up to 1100 bar) and very tolerant to particles, the MIVI works in any position and can be installed everywhere: directly on pipe or on measuring chamber.
Benefits of Sofraser’s viscosity and density measurement solution are clear. Installation of the MIVI sensor eliminates time consuming maintenance and pipeline down-time. The sensor requires almost no maintenance as it has no wearing parts. Associated with 9701 electronic interface, the solution is really simple and easy to use (touchscreen display, virtual keyboard).
Impressively versatile, robust and highly precise, the MIVI 9701 is the optimal solution to measure dynamic viscosity, kinematic viscosity, density and temperature with the same instrument while maximising your return on investment. This solution can also directly calculate viscosity at reference temperature (TCV).
