Koehler have recently launched their new K24900 Portable Fuel Property Analyser,. The Portable Fuel Property Analyser (PFPA) provides fast fuel analysis anywhere it is required: whether at a plant, a port, or in the field. Results are achieved in seconds using only a 2 mL fuel sample. The PFPA combines Near Infrared Spectroscopy with Advanced Multivariate Analysis to determine key fuel properties that influence engine performance.

The Koehler PFPA’s property determinations were developed and validated according to ASTM E1655 "Standard Practice for Infrared Multivariate Quantitative Analysis" using the property values of a wide matrix of in excess of 800 fuels from around the world determined by traditional ASTM methods.

PFPA can determine density, API gravity and distillation fractions for diesel, petroleum and jet fuel. Additionally it can determine cetane index, viscosity, flash point, cloud point, aromatics and saturates in diesel, freeze point, flash point, flash point fuel system icing inhibitor and hydrogen level in jet fuel and ethanol/MTBE, BTEX, Reid Vapour Pressure and octane (RON, MON AKI) in petroleum/gasoline.
