Need methane emissions compliance? Teledyne Gas and Flame Detection can help

17 Jun, 2026

In response to new methane emissions standards and legal reporting dates, Teledyne Gas and Flame Detection (Teledyne GFD) is offering ways to help oil and gas facility operators comply. As a full solutions provider, Teledyne GFD has proven technologies available that provide real-time detection and quantification of source-level methane emissions – and even help with compliance reporting – in this increasingly regulated field.

Methane emissions are under unprecedented scrutiny. With the introduction of new leak detection and repair (LDAR) legislation, the oil and gas industry is facing demanding requirements to monitor, measure and report emissions with a high degree of precision. As of 5 August 2025, operators in the EU must submit detailed reports on their annual source-level methane emissions in accordance with the EU Methane Regulation (previously Regulation 2024/1787). The reports need to include comprehensive data on methane emissions from all relevant sources within the facility. Independent verification is also necessary.

Teledyne Gas and Flame Detection understand the challenges these changes bring and can assist customers every step of the way with its integrated technologies and expertise. Proven solutions from Teledyne GFD help oil and gas operators – as well as LNG facilities and coal mines – demonstrate both regulatory compliance and environmental responsibility. These advanced solutions, which span infrared, acoustic, NDIR (non-dispersive infrared) and thermal imaging technologies, facilitate real-time detection and measurement.

The GS700, for example, is a highly configurable handheld detector. Ideal for methane emissions applications, the GS700 deploys leading-performance infrared gas detection technology (LEL and volume gas) in a robust and reliable design with a user-friendly interface. Moreover, a version is now available that provides compatibility with Teledyne GDCloud™ for fast and secure data sharing and analysis. This cloud-based solution simplifies compliance reporting by providing easy access to records, audit trails and visualisation of field events.

For those seeking an acoustic solution, one-handed Si2x acoustic cameras can help users see methane emissions and pinpoint the source. Si2x cameras offer real-time sound visualisation, emissions rate quantification and annual cost estimates.

Regarding NDIR, Teledyne Gas and Flame Detection can offer its fixed-position MethaSense Trace for real-time, continuous methane emissions monitoring, detection and quantification with 50 ppm sensitivity. By combining real-time sensing, cloud-based analytics and automated reporting, MethaSense Trace enables operators to detect, localise and measure methane emissions with precision – in line with evolving regulations.

For thermal imaging solutions, an advanced pan and tilt methane emissions camera such as the FLIR G620A features cooled OGI (optical gas imaging) technology. Complementing this fixed-position solution is the Gx320 handheld OGI camera. Operators are able to connect and run all of these cameras easily through the included web interface, available software development kits (SDKs) and industry-standard protocol GigE vision.

“When it comes to methane emissions monitoring, real benefits are available from partnering with a trusted, long-standing, full detection solutions provider,” states Martin ROBBINS, Business Development Manager. “At Teledyne Gas and Flame Detection, we don’t just sell equipment, we provide a comprehensive solution to help you meet methane emissions compliance standards confidently and effectively. Let’s work together to keep your operations safe, efficient and fully compliant in this new regulatory landscape.”
