Secondary oven doubles GC capability

20 Jul, 2026

Da Vinci Laboratory Solutions introduces the new Secondary Oven, designed to extend the analytical capabilities of the Agilent 8890 GC. The Secondary Oven enables simultaneous dual GC analyses within a single instrument, eliminating the need for a second GC system or additional software licenses.

Many analytical applications require multiple GC methods to achieve full characterisation, often driven by different oven temperature programs or column constraints. Solutions, like additional heated valve ovens or separate GC systems, introduce limitations in programmability and increase workflow complexity. Combining results from multiple instruments or data stations further raises the risk of errors.

The Secondary Oven addresses these challenges by providing a full sized, independently programmable GC oven fully integrated into the Agilent 8890. All secondary oven parameters - inlet conditions, temperature profiles, detector signals - are controlled directly through the GC interface. Data from both analyses are automatically combined into a single data file to streamline reporting.
