Siemens Industry Automation Division’s (Germany) new Basic Panels from the Simatic HMI (Human Machine Interface) product range have basic functions for operator control and monitoring, for example, an integrated alarm system, recipe management and trend curve functionality. The Simatic HMI Basic Panels have a high degree of protection (IP65) which makes them suitable for use in tough industrial environments. The first delivery stage comprises a large 15" device that offers a TFT touch display with 256 colours. A 10" version also has keys with tactile feedback. Depending on the version, integrated Profinet/Ethernet, Profibus or MPI/PPI interfaces are available for communication. The Simatic HMI Basic Panels are mounting-compatible with the Simatic HMI touch devices already available and, like these, are also configured with the fully scalable Simatic WinCC flexible 2008 engineering software. This offers the user the option of switching at any time to devices in other performance classes or with other display sizes. The range is further extended by devices with small displays.
