A unique range of tube skin thermocouples for plant process heaters is now available that offers higher accuracy and reliability over conventional thermocouples.

An 8mm diameter sheath made from Hastelloy-X enables Okazaki’s (UK) ‘Fan Tip’ tube skin thermocouple to be bent and coiled, allowing movement in both horizontal and vertical axes. The 40mm end tip of the thermocouple enables it to be welded to heater tubes on both sides, reducing the chances of thermocouples breaking off whilst in service.

A fan-shaped head enables the thermocouple to be easily welded to any type of process heater tube, so users get more accurate temperature measurements on the tube surface. Construction and tip profile accuracy is now between +4 and +6 deg C of the true tube temperature.
