Petroleos Mexicanos (PEMEX), the Mexican state-owned petroleum and natural gas company, has acquired forty-five of the latest Model 5100 HD Series gas analysers from AMETEK Process Instruments (USA) to monitor moisture levels in natural gas at monitoring stations throughout Mexico. According to Jorge Ovidio Martinez of COIMSUR, S.A. de C.V., AMETEK’s process instruments distributor in Mexico, “the Model 5100 HD analyser was selected because of its exceptional performance, reliability and competitive pricing.”

Model 5100 Series gas analysers are based on tunable diode laser absorption spectroscopy (TDLAS). The analysers provide a non-contact, rapid response approach to measuring moisture in natural gas. Among the instrument’s benefits are integrated sample conditioning and Ethernet-based diagnostics that allow for economic installation and ease of operation.

AMETEK provides several stationary and portable moisture measurement technologies suitable for natural gas service, including chilled mirror hygrometers (dew point testers), quartz-crystal-microbalance (QCM) analysers that feature on-board NIST-traceable verification and calibration, electrolytic (P2O5) sensors and TDLAS-based instruments.
