Increase Profitability with Faster Crude Assays and Optimized Crude Oil Blending

Feb 15 2012

PAC recently introduced an innovative and advanced analyzer which simultaneously determines the boiling range distribution of Carbon, Nitrogen, and Sulfur in a wide variety of crudes and final products. The AC Analytical Controls® CNS SIMDIS for Crude Oil makes assays simple and fast to perform, making an excellent tool to optimize the crude oil blend processed in the refinery, and increase profitability. The CNS SIMDIS for Crude Oil is built around recognized simulated distillation (SIMDIS) methods, but also incorporates additional Chemiluminescence detectors.

In the Hydrocarbon Processing Industry, crude assays are routinely used to determine detailed crude oil characteristics. This data is then used to optimize blending and distillation processes to maximize final product quality and product value within specifications. In these assays, the crude material is fractionated on boiling point and each fraction is tested in the lab for an extensive set of parameters. Sulphur content and distribution are some of the most critical parameters that drive final product cut points and affect product value.

The CNS SIMDIS is able to perform crude assays for a wide variety of crude oil and products, including everything from heavy gas oils to naphtha. It also simplifies the overall analysis process with its integrated software that allows users to completely control the analysis. The CNS SIMDIS for Crude correlates with traditional measurement methods at a fraction of the time and cost. The CNS SIMDIS for Crude oil is comparable to test methods, such as ASTM D2887, D6352, D7500, and D7169.

With its ease of use and ability to quickly and accurately analyze a wide variety of crude oil and products, the CNS SIMDIS for Crude Oil enables refineries to increase their laboratory productivity, production, and overall profitability.
