Sustainable aviation fuel (SAF)
Neste has strengthened its collaboration with World Fuel Services through a new five-year agreement designed to significantly expand access to sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) across Europe.
Under the renewed partnership, Neste will supply SAF to more than 100 airports within World Fuel’s UK and European network. The deal enhances fuel security for commercial, business, and general aviation customers while supporting compliance with key regulatory frameworks, including the ReFuelEU Aviation Regulation and the UK SAF mandate.
The agreement builds on a long-standing relationship between the two companies. By combining World Fuel’s established distribution infrastructure with Neste’s growing SAF production capacity, the partnership aims to deliver scalable and reliable low-emission fuel solutions to the aviation sector.
A central pillar of this supply strategy is Neste’s renewable fuels refinery in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, which currently has the capacity to produce up to 500,000 tons of SAF annually. The company is further expanding its global SAF production capability from 1.5 million to 2.2 million tons per year by 2027, reinforcing its role as a leading supplier in the market.
Duncan Storey, Senior Vice President, EMEA at World Fuel, said the expanded agreement strengthens the company’s ability to provide consistent SAF access as regulatory demands increase across Europe.
Carl Nyberg, Senior Vice President, Commercial, Renewable Products at Neste, emphasised that strategic collaborations such as this are essential to helping the aviation industry reduce greenhouse gas emissions and meet evolving SAF mandates. Leveraging World Fuel’s extensive airport network, he noted, will improve both the availability and flexibility of SAF supply for airlines operating across the region.
