The US’ Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) TIER III program has come into effect per January 1st 2017 for all major gasoline producers and importers. The TIER III program is a follow up of the previous TIER II program with changes to the maximum allowable sulphur content and the introduction of the use of the performance based measurement system (PBMS).

PAC performed the Tier III, 20-day stability test to confirm if the new Antek ElemeNtS system complies with the requirements as stated by the EPA. Performance is tested by comparing the requirements that are needed to meet the TIER III regulation of sulfur in gasoline measurements according to the TIER III program (§ 80.47).

After testing was completed, the system not only complies with both precision and accuracy criteria for approval for the absolute fuel parameter of gasoline sulphur, but exceeds the criteria set forth by the EPA regulation by at least a factor 2!
