Tyco Thermal Controls (Belgium) has introduced an innovative new control and monitoring system that promises to set new levels of flexibility and reliability in industrial heat-tracing systems.

The DigiTrace NGC-40 is a truly modular control, monitoring and power distribution system to be used for both hazardous and non-hazardous areas. Its modular construction offers almost unlimited flexibility, enabling the creation of systems to meet the widest variety of heat-tracing applications.

The system features individual control modules for each heat-tracing circuit. This innovative design enables problems with one heat-tracing circuit to be resolved quickly without affecting the system’s other circuits. This results into the highest level of reliability.

Single-phase and three-phase controllers are available while input/output modules provide additional control capabilities further extending flexibility in design. These are combined with power & termination and bridge modules to create systems that are optimised for a customer’s specific needs.

An intelligent SIL 2 certified safety temperature limiter module is also available providing the highest levels of safety.

DigiTrace NGC-40 systems monitor temperature, ground-fault currents, operating currents and other valuable information reflecting the integrity of the heat-tracing circuits. Their status is communicated continuously to a central location. Should a fault occur the system will provide clear messages and alarms, to enable fast maintenance and recovery.

Plant personnel can interact with this information via Tyco Thermal Controls’ innovative new 15 inch DigiTrace Touch 1500 user interface which provides them with local, easy-to-use and intuitive access to the complete DigiTrace NGC-40 system. The Touch 1500 is IP65 (NEMA 4) rated and can be mounted in the power distribution panel or located remotely, as required.

An additional option is combining local access via the DigiTrace Touch 1500 with Tyco Thermal Controls’ DigiTrace Supervisor software application which allows remote configuration and monitoring, enabling even tighter control of pipe maintain temperatures and optimisation of maintenance activities.

Commenting on the new innovation, Tyco Thermal Controls Product Marketing Manager, Robert Kuipers, said: “We’re delighted to bring the DigiTrace NGC-40 to the market as we’re convinced that it’s a major innovation and the culmination of all our success with the DigiTrace NGC family of products over the years. I’m confident that the levels of flexibility and reliability it will bring will set a new standard for heat-tracing control and monitoring products for years to come”.
