CSA-Sira Consulting Ltd (UK) recently held a training event in Dubai to an audience of some of the leading oil and gas operators in the region.

In addition, delegates who attended the training also sat Unit Ex 001 assessment under the IECEx Competence of Personnel Scheme (CoPC), offered independently by Sira Certification Service.

The need for IECEx certified people in the UAE is a key discussion topic at present as operators seek to find a way to ensure staff and contractors working in potentially explosive atmospheres are competent to carry out relevant tasks. IECEx CoPC was also featured on the agenda during the IECEx International Conference held in Dubai in March 2012.

Dana Parmenter, Managing Director for Sira commented, “The expansion of our training offering to Emirates states provide the opportunity for those in the region to gain up-to-date knowledge of the legislation, principles and practises of operating in hazardous areas. Our training is designed to meet the learning objectives of the IECEx Competence of Personnel Scheme and is one way for candidates to equip themselves with the knowledge needed to sit IECEx assessments.”

The training was facilitated by CSA’s partner the Sustainable Management Group (SMG), a Leading Management Solutions Institute, based in Beiruit and with offices in the UAE (http://j.mp/U4egVg).
