Advances in Bolting Technology Remove Project Safety Risks
Jun 14 2011
The need to safely and efficiently construct petroleum and resources infrastructure throughout South-East Asia these days requires that companies have a clear appreciation of the best technologies to get bolting jobs completed within deadline and without costly failures.
Correct joint assembly, controlled bolt tensioning and tightening, and safe separation when decommissioning or separating joints for maintenance are all operations that require personnel trained in torque tightening and bolt tensioning, says global hydraulic authority Enerpac (Singapore).
“Safe workplace procedures have come a long way from the crude, time-consuming and dangerous practices involving flogging and impacting tools,” says Enerpac South East Asia Managing Director Mr Joseph Wang. Enerpac has assembled a team of Territory Managers and Professional Bolting Specialists throughout South-East Asia who provide safety and better use bolting solutions training to efficiency conscious companies.
This includes demonstrating to engineering staff some of Enerpac’s family of professional bolting technologies, including its advanced torque wrenches (incorporating S square drive and W low profile hexagonal wrenches) and Z series torque wrench pumps.
Designed for high-repetition tasks, such technology has already halved the time taken for some construction and maintenance jobs worldwide, demonstrating its effectiveness in applications on machinery and infrastructure. The ZA4 pump - Enerpac’s newest high-pressure hydraulic air-driven pump - features the Z-Class high efficiency pump design known for its higher oil flow and bypass pressure. Because of their ATEX certification, the Enerpac ZA Pumps are safe for use in environments such as refinery, petro-chemical and oil and gas processing.
