Servomex has been instrumental in improving safety at a newly expanded purified terephthalic acid (PTA) facility at Merak, in Indonesia.

INEOS Aromatics have recently expanded their purified terephthalic acid (PTA) plant in Merak, Indonesia to reduce emissions and increase production capacity in a $70 million project. As part of this upgrade, they installed two of Servomex’s vent gas analysis systems. INEOS and Servomex collaborated to produce a system designed to provide a significantly improved level of safety and control of the plant’s oxidation reactor.

The gas analysis systems, which consist of a state-of-the-art Servomex SERVOTOUGH OxyExact 2200 oxygen analyser housed within a pressure reduction pre-sample conditioner enclosure, will provide INEOS with rest-assured accuracy and dependability to help them achieve their target of reducing emissions and increasing output by 15%

INEOS’ Merak plant, located on the northwestern tip of Java, is playing a major part in the Indonesian polyester industry’s growth. It became part of INEOS after the $5 billion acquisition of the BP Petrochemicals business in 2021.
