Servomex has leveraged its extensive service network capability to provide support to an Egypt-based chemicals producer.

It has agreed a regular service coverage contract for 18 Servomex gas analysers used within the ethylene dichloride (EDC) manufacturing process at the Port Said site of TCI Sanmar.

The Servotough SpectraExact 2500 analysers have been in operation at the plant for many years. Wear and tear of the analysers sustained over a lengthy period of time has led to an increase in unplanned downtime. To overcome this, TCI Sanmar chose to work directly with the Servomex service team to get the systems fully operational, and continuing to maximise operation through routine planned maintenance.

A rugged photometric analyser, the SpectraExact 2500 provides flexible single and multicomponent gas analysis capability for corrosive, toxic and flammable sample streams. It provides key measurements throughout the EDC process, including ethylene, water, sodium hydroxide and hydrogen chloride concentrations.

Under the contract, each analyser will be serviced by an expert Servomex engineer once a year. This will be carried out across three separate site visits to avoid the downtime of all analysers at once.

Typically, service coverage for Egypt is provided by the Servomex’s Middle East service center, but due to delays and restrictions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, expert engineers from Servomex’s Europe service team have provided additional support at the TCI Sanmar site.

Neil Tiley, Service Manager for Servomex’s EMEAI region, said: “TCI Sanmar had already purchased our Servotough SpectraExact 2500 analysers and wanted to set up an additional regular service contract. They were keen to work with us directly to service the analysers at their site, which had been in operation for some years and needed care and attention.

“Regular service and maintenance are really important for industrial plants that rely on gas analysis systems – it makes the equipment last a lot longer. By making this investment in regular service, TCI Sanmar is helping to reduce the risk of unplanned breakdown of analysers that are essential to the EDC production process.”
