The European Committee for Standardization (CEN) has recently released a new standard, EN 16329, 'Determination of CFPP for Diesel and Domestic Heating Fuels – Linear Cooling Bath Method'. The Cold Filter Plugging Point (CFPP) is a critical cold property that predicts the lowest temperature at which a fuel will freely flow through filters in a diesel engine system. The EN 16329 method does not operate under the conventional stepped cooling mode (as in EN 116) but rather uses linear cooling approach, resulting in an enhanced precision*.
With the automated Herzog HCP 842 and ISL FPP 5Gs, PAC provides the most complete offering worldwide for CFPP determination of diesel fuels. Both PAC’s Herzog HCP 842 and ISL FPP 5Gs now fully comply to the EN 16329 method, therefore allowing the petroleum testing laboratories to perform CFPP of their valued products according to this new method. In parallel, both instruments provide high levels of flexibility with customisable test procedures (user-defined or according to standards) and also multi-networking capability, which make them the ideal solutions for R&D applications and busy laboratories.
The EN 16329 is now also listed in the EN-590 European Diesel Fuels Specification as an alternative technique to EN 116:1997. Watch the PAC webinar, 'Highly Precise CFPP Analysis with EN 16329', to learn more. It covers:
