For more than 12 years, Matra Electronique (France) has been involved with the oil industry market, originally as a manufacturer of down-hole tools for drilling and production services, and lately for seismic exploration. The use of this equipment in harsh environmental conditions, especially at temperatures as high as 437°F (225°C), has lead Matra Electronique to  implement high temperature soldering processes to manufacture electronics boards and assemblies.

These processes are based on leaded and lead-free alloys; a hand soldering process with tin/lead/silver alloy and lead-free alloy: up to 300°C and a vapour phase reflow soldering process with tin/lead/antimony and lead-free: up to 250°C. The vapour phase process allows Matra to provide its clients with an alternative and economical solution for surface mount designs.
