New Gas-Phase Raman Analyser

Jul 31 2009

Kaiser Optical Systems Inc. (USA) introduces the RamanRXN Systems™ rack-mountable Raman analyser which in combination with Kaiser’s AirHead™ probe can be used for gas-phase process monitoring and control.

“Raman spectroscopy can be used to measure industrially important gases such as diatomics, including nitrogen, oxygen, and fluorine, SOx, COx, and hydrocarbons, however these measurements have rarely been made outside the laboratory setting due to the lack of process ready equipment. The RamanRXN Systems™ analyser and the AirHead™ in situ gas probe address many of the limitations of previous equipment for gas-phase monitoring and control,” said Ian R. Lewis, marketing manager at Kaiser.

Kaiser new gas-phase analyser offers an alternative to typical process gas-analysers. The chemical specificity and spectral range of the RamanRXN Systems™ analyser allows multiple gases to be independently identified without chromatographic separation. Benefits for Raman based gas-phase analysis include fibre-optic connectivity to remote sampling locations (no sample loops required), no consumables, and a single
RamanRXN Systems™ analyser can measure up to four sample locations. Thus Raman gas-analysers can offer both lower installation costs and cost-of-ownership than traditional process gas-analysers.

“The ability to measure gas-phase processes in real time and in situ opens up a new market for our current RamanRXN Systems™ analysers. Initial customer feedback to this product has been promising,” said Joe Slater, engineering manager at Kaiser .

The RamanRXN Systems™ analyser is the newest member of the RamanRXN Systems™ suite of Raman analysers. This analyser incorporates Kaiser’s latest generation NRXN spectrometer for superior spectral performance and features automatic calibration, and Cal-Check™ (automatic calibration monitoring) for spectral assurance.
Available in 4-channel configuration this analyser can meet the requirements of the
high-throughput chemist, there action chemist, or the formulation developer.
