Overflash Mass Flow Measurement at 380°c

In the field of raw oil distillation, the measurement of "overflash" quantities poses a special challenge. The overflash quantity is an indicator for the intended operation mode of the distillation column. If the quantities accumulating at the base of a column get too large, it can be detected at an early stage thanks to the installed meter.

Due to the high temperature range this measuring task was performed generally by the use of an orifice meter. A precise measurement at these flow velocities can be realised only with a small orifice diameter and thus with great pressure loss. By installing the patented ultrasonic FLUXUS® flow measuring system with WaveInjector® a sucessful measurement at high temperatures is possible.

Flexim

`s (Germany) meter is installed without any modification to the existing system. The measuring point is located in the explosion hazard zone 1 (ATEX). The distillation process can be optimised thanks in part to the more precise measurement of the overflash quantities.
