Capula (UK) is pleased to have successfully delivered a project to remove a critical single point of failure on the OSIsoft PI solution as deployed at the Petroplus refinery in Coryton, in England. With headquarters in Switzerland, Petroplus is a leading independent refiner and supplier of unbranded petroleum products in Europe. Coryton is the largest refinery in the Petroplus portfolio, and its efficient operation is fundamental to the continued success of the Company. Understanding the importance of their OSIsoft PI data historian, Coryton went about investigating UK sources of OSIsoft expertise.

Coryton already had a working relationship with Capula but, until this point, had not explored any projects in the OSIsoft PI arena. A joint workshop followed with Coryton to explore the existing system configuration,

identify points of weakness, and how Capula could help to reduce the risk to the business, by making improvements to the previous system. Capula recommended the implementation of the OSIsoft PI HA (High

Availability) solution, in order to provide improved data resilience and automatic failover in the event of a failure of the current, central PI server or similar eventualities.

In parallel with this effort, Petroplus retained Capula to re-engineer the interface to Coryton’s Invensys (Foxboro) DCS plant control system, and to post project support in all aspects of their OSIsoft implementation,

to the end of the year.

"Capula’s strong, ongoing relationship with OSIsoft continues to enable our clients to meet their business objectives by combining our skills in integration with OSIsoft’s leading products," said Simon Coombs, Business Development Director at Capula, "This project is the latest in a long line of contracts in which we have demonstrated our excellence in delivery, and we look forward to forging a long and successful relationship with Petroplus as a result."
