AppliTek (Belgium) is pleased to present its all new Ex-Proof on-line analyser system for the determination of Sodium (Na) and Sodium compounds in liquefied petroleum gas (LPG).

The performance and life of combustion engines optimised for LPG can severely deteriorate through elevated Sodium levels in the engine gas. Determining these levels at the downstream stage helps refineries to adjust process conditions. Whereas conventional techniques such as ICP or AAS can provide extremely high resolution and level of detection, these are of limited use in modern-day production processes where fast process feedback is required. AppliTek’s research has lead to the development of a proprietary wet-chemical technique (with a typical precision of < 0.01 %) especially developed for LPG manufacturers, allowing to finetune the process to yield a near as perfect product quality.

With the announcement of the unique analyser system AppliTek is likely to have achieved Best Available Technology for quality control in LPG manufacturing. The whole system, including preconditioning unit, is Zone 2 certified under the EU ATEX Directive 94/9/EC for use in potentially explosive atmospheres (Zone 1 also possible).
