Fast and accurate determination of smallest sulphur impurities is highly important for refineries. There, sulphur is not only monitored for process control, prevention of catalyst poisoning, but also for controlling the sulphur limits in fuel production. Due to the use of nitrogen-containing additives (e.g. 2-ethylhexyl nitrate) UV fluorescence detection is affected, and thereby gives too high sulphur readings as described in current standard methods.

In order to avoid false results, an innovative new UV fluorescence detector with patented Micro Plasma Optimiser technology (MPO) from Analytik Jena (Germany) was developed. It ensures reliable analysis results, but also a remarkable sensitivity of detection and ease of use.
