A coatings industry company led by entrepreneur and Restek founder Paul Silvis has been named the 2013 “Outstanding Technical Company” by Pennsylvania’s Chamber of Business and Industry of Centre County (CBICC). Each year, the CBICC presents the Outstanding Technical Company Award to a “chamber member that develops or implements exciting new technologies and makes them work for the betterment of business, industry and society.” SilcoTek Corporation (USA) provides custom surface treatments to parts in a variety of industries including refining, oil, gas and analytical sciences from their new 38,000 square foot facility in Bellefonte, PA.
The new building has three times as much coating capacity as the previous space and houses SilcoTek’s unique chemical vapor deposition (CVD) process. Their trademark “rainbow” coatings provide chemical inertness, corrosion resistance, durability and other material advantages to otherwise underperforming parts in a variety of industrial marketplaces.
Once a division of a Restek Corporation, SilcoTek spun-off from the parent company in 2009 to form a new company dedicated to coatings. SilcoTek’s new building and early success is a preliminary step in the ongoing process of the company’s vision: installing and licensing off-site operations for customers to perform their own coatings while serving as a technical resource for users.
