Gasoline: Specifications, Testing and Technology, a technical and professional training course presented by ASTM International (USA), focuses on the properties and specifications of gasoline and how they affect gasoline performance in a spark ignition engine.

Topics covered in the course include gasoline specifications, octane measurements and enhancers, volatility, additives, oxygenates, reformulated gasoline and the impact of the Clean Air Act.

The course features a tour of either a fuel test laboratory or fuel distribution terminal. It is intended for employees of petroleum companies and federal, state, or local government regulators who need a better understanding of gasoline and the compositional variables that affect its performance in an engine. Laboratory supervisors, fuel marketing and sales personnel, pipeline company employees, and engine manufacturing and testing personnel can also benefit. Others involved in the purchase, sale, operations, or distribution of gasoline and attorneys involved in regulation litigation involving gasoline or automotive engines should attend. A scientific background is not required.

The course will be held May 15-17, 2012, in San Diego, Calif.; Sept. 25-27, 2012, in San Antonio, Texas; and Nov. 13-15, 2012 in Savannah, Ga. The attendance fee is $1195 USD, and includes copies of four ASTM International standards, course notes, transportation to and from the tour site, and refreshment breaks.
