Flow Calibration Services to ISO 17025

May 19 2020

Offering ISO 17025:2017 accredited flow calibration services for gas flow, water flow, oil flow and air velocity. The air flow laboratory offers four UKAS accredited air flow calibration rigs for the calibration of mass flowmeters, flow controllers, thermal, laminar, coriolis, turbine, vortex differential pressure sensors and variable area flow meters across 1 cc/min to 4500 m3/hr and to a 300 mm diameter line size. For smaller bore flow meters and lower flows, flow meters can be calibrated on other gases traceable to national standards. Two further airspeed calibration rigs offer high accuracy air velocity calibration for the calibration of anemometers, L type and S type pitot probes, wind speed devices, kiel probes and isokinetic probes. The test facility has both open and closed jet systems allowing detailed research studies and the ability to quicker determine blockage corrections for air velocity devices. UKAS accredited air velocity calibration can be completed across a range of 0.05 to 80 m/s providing world leading anemometer services for transfer standard anemometers and air velocity probes with a measurement uncertainty from 0.15% of reading.

The water flowmeter laboratory has one of the lowest liquid flow calibration rates covering accredited flow calibration down to 1 ml/hr for ultra-low flows utilised in infusion, HPLC, syringe driver calibration, low flow dosing meters on mini coriolis, CMOS sensors and infusion analysers. UKAS accredited to ISO/IEC 17025:2017 and now extends to 1000 l/min for accredited water meters and flow calibrations and up to 4000 l/min traceable to national standards. The laboratory houses several primary and secondary standard flow rigs covering flow meters from 0.1mm diameter to 200 mm line size which can accommodate turbine, coriolis, ultrasonic, magnetic, wedge, orifice, dP devices and vortex meters with threaded, sanitary, flange, hose end or customer specific connections. Instrumentation outputs for mA, volts, frequency, HART, RS232 or RS485 can be interfaced into the test rig data acquisition system. Customers looking for high accuracy measurement uncertainty are covered for ultra-low flow water flow rate calibrations from 0.1% rising to 0.15% of reading to 1000 l/min. For customers only requiring calibrations traceable to national standards a low cost offering for a 0.5% measurement uncertainty is available for meter flow rates up to 4000 l/min. Complimenting the water gravimetric and transfer standard rigs, are a range of oil flowmeter calibration stands for flow meter calibrations covering 3 mm to 50 mm line sizes on hydraulic oils, fuels and solvents. The oil calibration facility ranges from 1 cc/min to 700 l/min traceable to national standards and 0.4 to 440 l/min UKAS accredited to ISO 17025. All types of meters can be calibrated such as coriolis, turbine, helical screw, oval gear, sprung VA, nutating disc, wedge, orifice, ultrasonic and differential meters. The Young Calibration laboratory (UKAS Lab 0604) provides customers with a cost effective, professional calibration solutions for a wide range of air flow, liquid flow, air velocity and pressure instrumentation.
