Fluid specialists for 30 years, Sofraser (France) creates and manufactures industrial viscometers and is a forerunner of the vibrating rod principle. In fact, Sofraser is an essential partner to many industries (especially petroleum) and offer a large range of analysers:

Sofraser’s Thermoset MIVI is a powerful online process monitor that measures dynamic viscosity up to 10 000 mPa.s at the user’s selectable temperature points.

The MIVI can be used as an online viscosity analyser at reference temperature. The fluid is permanently drawn from the process, brought at the required temperature, it’s viscosity measured, then re-injected in the main line. It’s especially in this case used for calculating viscosity in petroleum products. MIVI can also perform online viscosity index measurement and calculation according ASTM 2270-04. When adjusting the two reference temperatures at 100°C and 40°C, the Thermoset MIVI is able to calculate the Viscosity Index according to ASTM 2270-04. It is in this case designated to control lubricant’s viscosity.

The system takes advantage of the recognised quality of the Sofraser’s MIVIviscosity sensor and its good reliability and accuracy. Thermoset MIVI allows incredible time and money savings when installing, maintaining or cleaning. In most cases the system fits its own needs and requires no annex installation. The absence of bath or oven allows immediate and secure maintenance. Moreover, the new, fully ATEX approved design allows faster and easier maintenance when unusual operating conditions occur and measurement of dynamic and kinematic viscosity when optionally combined with a densimeter. In order to satisfy the requirements of its end-users, Sofraser can customise the design of its Thermoset analyser. Adding product filtering with reverse flush cleaning and product temperature conditioning system are two examples where the know-how of Sofraser helped to provide a complete, ready to install solution to the end-users’ need.
