New Cold Soak Filtration Apparatus for Biodiesel
Mar 31 2017
Koehler Instrument Company has recently introduced their K46700 Dual Cold Soak Filtration Apparatus. This newly designed instrument determines the suitability of a biodiesel blend stock to provide adequate low temperature operability performance by filtration time after cold soak according to ASTM D7501 (Test Method for Determination of Fuel Filter Blocking Potential of Biodiesel Blend Stock by Cold Soak Filtration Test)
The Dual Cold Soak Filtration combines two tanks and a test station to enable an easier completion of the test method. The first tank is set to 40 ± 1 °F (4.5 ± 0.5 °C). The 16 hour cold soak period occurs in this tank. The second tank operates at 77 ± 1°F (25 ± 0.5 °C) and the 2 - 4 hour soak period for the sample takes place here. The vacuum filtration kit is set up on the test station and controlled by the integrated vacuum pump and regulator.
The integration of the 2 baths with a vacuum filtration system into one instrument is unique as well as highly reliable. The Dual Cold Soak Filtration Apparatus reduces the amount of space required to carry out the test and anables the entire test to happen in one standalone instrument instead of several pieces of equipment.
