Advances in Hydrocarbon Analysers and ICP-MS at ArabLab 2013

Mar 06 2013

Bruker (USA) will be exhibiting their PIONA+ Analyser and the newly launched aurora Elite ICP-MS instrument at the ArabLab 2013 conference and exhibition, 10-13 March, Dubai. Experts from Bruker CAM will demonstrate how focused innovation has delivered the widest range of hydrocarbon processing solutions available. Bruker will also introduce the new model in the aurora ICP-MS range, the high performance aurora Elite.

During the conference Bruker will exhibit a series of analytical chemistry solutions, designed to exceed both simple and complex petrochemical requirements. At booth #608, Bruker will display the newly updated PIONA+ Analyser, which now includes the high performance SCION 456-GC . The PIONA+ Analyser is a comprehensive GC system and offers the ability to characterise and quantify the components in a variety of spark ignition fuels according to an array of industry standard method protocols. Highlights of the conference will also include two seminars. Firstly Graham Shelver will present ‘Closing the Loop on Automated Petrochemical Data Processing,’ while Hans van den Heuvel will explore ‘Developments in Gasoline Characterisation using the PIONA+,’ examining how Bruker can achieve a reduction in multi-dimensional gas chromatography analysis time of 40%.

Hans van den Heuvel, Product Marketing Manager for Gas Chromatography at Bruker CAM, explained that “a series of independently controlled columns and traps allow the PIONA+ Analyser to dramatically reduce analysis time, with no loss of performance. This is the sort of technological innovation that makes a significant difference to routine hydrocarbon analysis.” He continued, “ArabLab provides the perfect opportunity for us to share the advances behind our instruments and showcase the very real benefits for customers.”

The new high performance model in the aurora ICP-MS series, the aurora Elite will be also be on booth #608 at ArabLab. Incorporating a host of performance enhancements and new features, the aurora Elite is the most sensitive ICP-MS currently on the market, with 1.5 GHz/ppm sensitivity for precise and accurate quantification at single digit ppt levels and below. The lowest oxide ratios using patented turner-interlaced coils ensure robust plasma conditions for complete matrix decomposition, without the need for a plasma shield or guard electron. Moreover, the inclusion of an easy-to-use Collision Reaction Interface (CRI II) provides simple, maintenance free interference management, with the convenience of either a Helium or Hydrogen mode.

Meredith Conoley, Bruker CAM Marketing Director, said “Our ICP-MS specialists have worked hard alongside customers to consider the needs of current and future application areas and deliver advancements throughout our already exceptional ICP-MS range. Both the original workhorse aurora M90 and the aurora Elite now include 21 CFR Part 11 compliant software packages, external device control for bidirectional triggering and the lowest cost of ownership with a unique all-digital detector. With the aurora range, customers can redefine their application boundaries.”
