Matrix-Optimised Sulphur Determination by UV Fluorescence
Feb 06 2013
The correct fast sulphur determination is an integral part of quality control in petro industry. The most flexible method therefore is the oxidative combustion combined with UV-fluorescence detection. As different the sulphur contents of the samples are, as different is their digestion behaviour. More complex matrices (VGO) exhibit mode-dependent differences. Therefore selection of the suitable furnace mode is important to ensure quantitative combustion of all sample components. While conventional TS analysers are limited to vertical or horizontal mode, the multi EA 5000 from Analytik Jena (Germany) can be operated vertically and horizontally for process optimisation. Its innovative double furnace technology creates ideal combustion conditions for any organic matrix. Just a single device is enough to examine a uniquely broad spectrum of different samples.
