Analytical Technology & Control – ATAC (UK) have added a process viscometer to their stable of online physical property analysers. Combining innovative solutions for hazardous area installation and advanced control and diagnostic features with decades of proven analytical techniques, the new ATAC 1077 Viscometer+ sets new standards.

The new Viscometer+ incorporates a highly responsive touch screen which uniquely has a Zone 1 IIC rating without the need for purge air. Modular control assemblies are all plug and play, communicating via a robust internal CAN-bus bringing to hand immediate and comprehensive diagnostic capability.

Fundamental to the high precision of the viscosity measurement is control of the oil bath to +/- 0.002 degC. The optional addition of a second oil bath to the Viscometer+ enables continuous analysis of viscosity at two different temperatures.

ATAC viscometers provide a complete solution for automatic analysis of petroleum process streams. The systems offer a choice of transmitters and capillary sizes and can analyse both Newtonian and non-Newtonian fluids. In correlation with ASTM methods 445 & 2170, ATAC viscometers provide Dynamic Viscosity (cP) and with the addition of a sample density measurement, Kinematic Viscosity (cSt).

Applications include lube oil blending, fuel oil blending, lube oil de-waxing, distillate fuel product specification, Visbreaker feed stock and Residual fuels.
