X-ray fluorescence (XRF) is extensively used for the elemental analysis of sulphur in different types of fuel. This is reflected in several norms and standards, like ASTM 2622, ISO 14596 and ISO 20884.

With Oil-Trace, a single calibration based on relatively inexpensive mineral oil standards can be used for quantifying sulphur.

AxiosmAX-Petro, PANalytical’s (Netherlands) dedicated WDXRF system for the petrochemical industry, in combination with Oil-Trace brings XRF petroleum analysis to the next level. With one single sulphur in mineral-oil-calibration it is possible to accurately and precisely analyse sulphur in diesel, biodiesels, ethanol, gasoline and common mixtures.
