The mercury era is coming to an end in petroleum testing because of safety and environmental issues. The alternative comes in the form of Orbis BV’s new product called AirProbe. The first edition is AirProbe D86, a distillation-focused digital thermometer that upgrades any manual distillation unit into a semi-automatic distillation unit. Besides safety, health and environmental benefits; test results will prove to be better in terms of accuracy and repeatability, while data is stored and processed via today’s digital standards. Plus, it makes operator lives a lot easier. A short demo video is available on YouTube.

AirProbe consists of three things: PT-100 probe, AirProbe device and iOS app. The iPod and AirProbe device connect through Bluetooth, meaning no cables are required.

Features: record and export Volume points - Temperature - Distillation rate - Test time - Auto FBP detection. Dynamic real-time ASTM 7&8 stem and lag-time as well as barometric pressure correction of results. Calibration data are set in the AirProbe D86 App and stored on the PT-100’s internal memory.

Applicable methods: ASTM D86, D1078, D850, E123, IP195, DIN51751, ISO 3405,
