MIRICO was formed as a result of cutting edge research and development at the Science and Technology Facilities Council’s Rutherford Appleton Laboratory Space division. The company consists of highly skilled engineering and scientific team that designs, develops, manufactures and deploys unique spectrometer products using mid-infrared light sources for high performance gas analysis.

The company’s technology portfolio is based on research carried out by Dr. Damien Weidmann and the Laser Spectroscopy team at the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory, part of the Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC), a national laboratory in the U.K. The Laser Spectroscopy group are a team of senior researchers focused on developing unique spectroscopic techniques for earth observation and planetary landers for space missions. This lead to new analytical instruments for gas analysis that deliver laboratory standard performance in a highly compact, field deployable form factor, and offer highly unique capabilities. These powerful techniques enable a host of exciting applications, by bringing measurements out of the laboratory and into the field. MIRICO has turned these technologies into a suite of products, putting the requisite tools to industry and research professionals. Our innovative engineering team works with our customers to meet the requirements for different applications.

Taking our fundamental technology MIRICO has turned innovative platform technologies into a suite of products, aimed at solving industry and research professional challenges. Our innovative engineering team consists of a combination of scientists, mechanical, electronic and software engineers that work alongside our commercial team to develop customer centric products. These tools take laboratory standard gas analysis out of the lab and into the field.
