Mercury is both toxic and potentially damaging: it can corrode or embrittle gas plant components. Mercury Instruments (Germany) has engineered a system for automatic and continuous monitoring of mercury levels in gaseous hydrocarbons. This Mercury Monitoring System for natural gas provides an ideal tool to determine the efficiency of each mercury removal unit in real time, and necessary to successfully monitor and control mercury concentrations during natural gas production and processing.

The detectors of the system are based on the proven atomic absorption principle. Utilising the proprietary Mercury Instruments GoldTrap interference from matrix components like from benzene are eliminated. The system is approved for use in hazardous zones (EExp, ATEX). An automatic calibration unit completes the system.
