Laser Components has developed an ultracompact pulsed laser diode component, which combines a high current switch and capacitor together with a high power multi-junction 905nm laser diode chip within a standard hermetically sealed T0-56 package. This revolutionary product has been developed to help their customers reduce the size and complexity of their range finding and scanning equipment. Positioning of these components close to the laser diode chip minimises inductance which helps the PLD achieve a very short pulse width with high repetition rate. This QuickSwitch® PLD won the “Best of Sensors” award at the Sensors Expo & Conference 2019 and Autonomous Vehicle Technology ACES Award in December 2018. Thanks to the integrated circuitry, proximity electronics are relatively simple to design. There is also an evaluation board available to help new customers experiment with it.
