Mike Blakemore has joined leading independent environmental consultancy SLR (UK), to lead business-consulting growth in the oil and gas team.
Mike has extensive experience of business consulting across the oil and gas industry. He started his career in the downstream sector as a researcher at BP with subsequent stints as an operations engineer with ExxonMobil. He moved into the upstream sector as a wireline engineer with the global oilfield services giant Schlumberger, working in Mexico, offshore in the US Gulf of Mexico and in Algeria.
Mike shifted into business-consulting, initially with Arthur D. Little and subsequently with Schlumberger Business Consulting. During his consulting career Mike has worked with most of the oil majors, many independent exploration and production companies and with national oil companies in Mexico, Angola and Abu Dhabi. As a consultant Mike specialises in Strategy, Organisation and Technology Management.
Most recently Mike has been working in the unconventional resource sector on shale gas, shale oil and coal-seam gas developments. He has advised operators on growth strategy and the management and governance of their unconventional operations and joint ventures.
“SLR provides a broad range of services to the oil and gas sector enabling clients to benefit from a consistent best practice approach across the entire E&P lifecycle,” said Hamish Wilson, who heads up SLR’s oil and gas team.
“Mike’s appointment further strengthens our offering to clients on strategic and commercial aspects of exploration and development.”
