UK Notified Body Sira has recently signed an international recognition agreement with Chinese Certification body CCST (the China National Inspection Centre for Explosion Protected Electrical Products).

Having met with CCST representatives and reviewed CCST’s test facilities Sira has signed a mutual recognition agreement designed to enable smoother entry into Chinese markets for our European clients.

This agreement is of particular use to the mining industry because all Group I equipment has to be reviewed by CCST for MA (Chinese Mining) approval.

The agreement now means that Sira can test and assess equipment in the UK and issue a report to CCST, thus reducing certification timescales and it is likely that you will not need to send your equipment and drawings to China for testing and evaluation.
