High oil prices coupled with the huge resources in sugar cane, palm and coconut oil among others will make Asia a major growth centre for biofuels production.
Governments across Asia have activated programmes to build capacity in investments and technology to develop biofuels. Malaysia alone has issued 10 licenses for biofuels plants worth an estimated RM 300 million. In addition, three biodiesel plants will be built with an annual capacity of 60,000 tonnes of biodiesel with a cost of RM 120 million.
The AFTC will tackle these issues head on with contributions from leading specialists in biofuel technology as well as feature contributions from operating companies such as Petronas and Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) on their experiences.
