Valiant Petroleum has set out its most ambitious operation programme to date, with up to six exploration wells drilling, two development wells on the Don Fields and production from the company’s first operated development, Causeway.

The North Sea E&P group received consent from the UK’s Department of Energy and Climate Change to develop Causeway field, which is the company's first operated development. The Borgsten Dolphin semi-submersible rig will be used to complete existing production. The Borgsten will also be used to appraise the Tybalt discovery, where the company has an 80 per cent stake.

Six wells have been targeted for exploration and appraisal in 2012, with total best estimate prospective resources of 190 million barrels of oil equivalent.

The first half of the year will see the company start to drill in the Orchard prospect, where they hold a 30 per cent stake, as well as the Timon prospect, where it holds a ten per cent stake.

It will also continue its exploration programme, building on its success in Norway in 2011.
