The latest update on fuel prices from the Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) shows a further drop in unleaded petrol prices by the UK downstream
oil industry in August.
In the week to August 2nd, the consumer-facing
oil industry cut prices at the pump by 0.11p per litre, the weekly report reveals.
This took the average amount charged to 116.51p per litre for unleaded petrol.
However, the fuel still stands up by 14.2p year-on-year, despite a series of cuts in recent weeks.
Diesel, meanwhile, remains unchanged at 119.03p per litre - exactly the same as in the final week of July.
It too has risen year-on-year, standing up by 15.8p compared with the beginning of August in 2009.
Further prices are due to be published in accordance with DECC's weekly schedule for reporting on the cost of fuel, with the next update due to come on Tuesday, August 10th at 09:30 BST.
