The UK oil industry has lowered its prices at the pump for the sixth consecutive week for unleaded petrol and diesel.

While diesel prices remained unchanged from July 26th to August 2nd, neither fuel type has increased in cost since July 5th.

At that time, unleaded petrol cost 117.91p per litre on average across the UK, while diesel was at 120.44p per litre.

Since mid-July, the consumer-facing oil industry has cut prices at pumps in petrol stations and supermarkets week after week.

Unleaded now stands at 116.34p per litre - down by 1.57p from its peak - while diesel has dropped by 1.65p to 118.79p.

Over the past week alone, diesel fell by 0.16p while unleaded prices were broadly in line with the previous report, dropping just 0.1p.

The next update from the Department of Energy and Climate Change is due to cover fuel prices as at Monday, August 23rd and is scheduled for publication at 09:30 BST the following morning.
