The continuing downward trend in pump prices among the UK's consumer-facing
oil industry operators has entered an eighth week, government figures show.
Each Tuesday, the Department of Energy and Climate Change publishes its update of fuel prices in the week leading up to the day before.
As of Monday, August 23rd, pump prices have sustained a downward path for both unleaded petrol and diesel for seven consecutive weeks.
The only exception to this was on August 2nd, when diesel remained at 119.03p for a second week - the same level that it had reached on July 26th.
But neither commodity has risen in cost since July 5th, the latest update on the UK
oil industry's pricing shows.
On August 23rd, diesel stood at 117.90p per litre, lower than at any point since March 22nd.
Unleaded, meanwhile, reached 115.64p per litre - a level it has not seen since March 15th.
The next update is due for publication at 09:30 BST on Tuesday, August 31st.
