Unleaded petrol continues to drop in price at UK pumps as the oil industry's six-week run on lowering cost per litre goes on.

Figures from the Department of Energy and Climate Change, compiled on Monday, June 21st, show an average at-pump price of 117.8p per litre for unleaded petrol.

Diesel, meanwhile, rose slightly in cost last week, reaching 120.39p per litre, after dropping to 120.21p the week before.

The fuel remains up by more than two pence since the rise in fuel duty of a single penny per litre enforced on April 1st.

Diesel immediately leapt from 118.21p to 120.09p on the increase as the consumer-facing oil industry reacted to the duty rise in its pricing structure.

However, unleaded petrol has now returned almost to its pre-rise level of 117.28p per litre, from which it too spiked to 119.29p on the duty hike.

The next report from the department is due on Tuesday, June 29th and should give an indication of whether falling unleaded prices will continue.
