Ayalytical Instruments (USA) has announced a partnership with TSHR to comply with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) new mandate for improved control of fuel emissions and fuel quality. This partnership introduces the global fuel industry to the TSHR TSTN 7000, a trace sulphur elemental analyser that produces low dispersion data and high accuracy to meet the U.S. government’s new requirements in gasoline through its Tier III rule.

EPA’s new Tier III regulation is part of a comprehensive approach to reducing the impact of motor vehicles on air quality and public health. Tier III regulations call for lower sulphur levels in the range of 10 ppm, reduced from 30 ppm. These changes will require refiners to modify or install new infrastructure in their process units to meet this specification, which is expected to be fully implemented by 2017.

In response to the new Tier III regulations, TSHR joined forces with Ayalytical Instruments to bring broader global awareness and distribution to TSTN 7000. TSTN 7000 not only meets the EPA’s PBMS approach for the determination of sulphur content in Tier III gasoline with great ease, it also complies with concentrations well below the scope of ASTM D7039 as well as other spectroscopic methods.

“It is now both critical and mandatory that fuel refineries select the most efficient and precise technologies for measuring sulphur at these new ultra-low levels,” said Juan Ayala, Managing Director of Ayalytical Instruments. “While other trace sulphur analysers exist in the marketplace, we found the TSTN 7000 to be the most effective analyser geared towards the fuel industry and compliant with ASTM method D5453.”

This trace sulphur elemental analyser has rendered precise results and reporting for the analysis of gasoline following the EPA’s performance-based measurement system (PBMS) protocol 40 CFR Part 80, Subpart D section 80.47.
