A proposed ASTM International standard would provide the determination of polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) in aqueous matrices. ASTM’s committee on water (D19) is developing the proposed standard (WK73235).

The proposed method would be applicable for the rapid, and definitive determination of PFAS compounds in water samples ranging from clean water to highly contaminated wastewater. The proposed method would provide the flexibility of users to modify the calibration model or add and remove compounds as needed provided the quality control acceptance criteria is met.  ASTM’s committee on water encourages participation in the development of its standards.
