Corrosion continues to be a problem of worldwide importance, costing roughly 3% of the gross domestic product (GDP) of any country for which data is available. The estimated impact of corrosion on the US economy is over $276 billion.
This recent supplement (MNL20-2ND-SUP-EB) has been prepared to address updates to the technology that addresses this form of degradation, MNL20-2ND-EB Corrosion Tests and Standards: Application and Interpretation. Corrosion is often neglected but it not only seriously impacts our economy, but also jeopardizes human health and safety, wastes valuable resources, and impedes technological progress.
Corrosion tests and standards are very significant in addressing each of these factors. Therefore, this updated manual includes guidelines for recognizing types of corrosion as well as fundamentals of testing and provides the tools required for making calculations, interpretations, and correlations. It serves as a sourcebook of procedures, equipment, and standards used in testing.
