World's Biggest TBP-Plant Heads to Kuwait

Dec 09 2014

The world's biggest TBP-plant, boasting a flask capacity of 500 litres, has been designed and manufactured by the team of i-Fischer /ILUDEST (Germany) in full conformity to the requirements of ASTM D-2892.

The fully automated  "i-Fischer Dist D-2892 CC - 500 ltr" unit will be installed at KISR (Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research), near to an ASTM-plant type "i-Fischer Dist D-2892 CC - 150 ltr", an already reasonably large unit that the i-Fischer/ILUDEST team had already installed.

Plants set up to ASTM standards offer a rapid return on investment and these are commonly used worldwide to achieve a range of research and financial targets. These units offer efficient quality control of fractions and unknown samples. Larger fraction volumes can be produced for easy evaluation of the complete product assay. The i-Fischer team can offer systems that will produce very well defined feed stocks to create a further demand to research units and plants to test catalysts, reaction/reactor analysis and new product development. Operators will also be able to distil and recover many solvents widely used in various aspects of refinery research and quality control. In fact, a distillation unit, such as i-Fischer’s, will potentially increase the refinery’s output by up to 30%, so the investment for purchasing the unit would be amortised in a matter of a few weeks!

The huge ASTM approved distillation units with flask sizes ranging from 100 to 500 litres are particularly favourable for use for comfortable handling of feed stock determination and solvent production. Hence, the investment return can be accelerated significantly by frequent use by several refinery departments in the production of a variety of end products.
